He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role:

This is your chance to contribute directly to a milestone moment in New Zealand’s transport history. As our Safety, Health & Wellbeing Business Partner – CRL, you’ll work alongside our CRL Interface Team and Link Alliance partners to ensure safety is front and centre throughout the project. You’ll provide expert guidance on all aspects of safety, health, and wellbeing for the CRL programme, from Henderson to Britomart. Your focus will include critical risk management, site safety planning, supporting incident investigations, and reviewing safety data and providing performance insights – all while promoting KiwiRail’s FELT leadership and Toitu Te Mauri safety culture.


This role is a 12-month fixed-term contract, based in Auckland, with an immediate start.

Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a generalist SHW role
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the rail industry – this is essential
  • Proven ability to coach, influence, and support operational teams
  • Experience working in complex, multi-agency environments (e.g. major infrastructure projects)
  • Strong knowledge of incident management, risk registers, and safety planning
  • SHW qualification (NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent)
  • Clear communication, confidence under pressure, and a collaborative approach
  • A valid NZ Driver’s Licence and the ability to pass drug and alcohol screening
