Job Description

  • Part time vacancies - up to 50 hours per fortnight
  • Flexibility to work a range of rostered shifts is required - Shifts can include 1pm to 1pm, 1pm to 9am, 4pm to 9am, 9am to 4pm.
  • Availability to work every second weekend is required.
  • $23.84-$29.10 per hour depending on relevant qualifications

As a Support Worker you will be supporting people with intellectual disabilities to enjoy great lives at home and as part of their community.

We are looking for Support Workers to work with individuals who have complex behavioural support needs. No one is too disabled or "challenging" to be supported in taking an active role in their life. Dealing with challenging behaviour can be tough, but with the right approach, we can make a difference, promote positive behaviours, and create a supportive environment for people to thrive.

Your role involves helping the people we support to:

  • recognise and respond to emotional overwhelm safely.
  • grow their independence and learn skills for daily living such as using public transport, getting a job, cooking a meal, emotional regulation.
  • manage their daily routines eg. shower, get dressed, take medication, eat a meal.
  • pursue their goals, interests, and hobbies.
  • stay healthy and making positive choices about their lifestyle.
  • have strong connections with their whānau and community.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

Previous experience is preferred, but more importantly, we are looking for someone with some life experience and the right attitude. It is essential that you have the skills to build good relationships with the people we support.

  • Previous experience supporting people complex behavioural support needs is preferred but not essential.
  • Flexibility to work rostered shifts including days, evenings, sleepovers, and weekends.
  • A calm nature and confidence to work with challenging behaviours.
  • Comfortable and proficient in using computers and tablets daily.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Physical fitness to provide necessary physical support.
  • A Full NZ driver's license
