BestStart Herewini is looking for a dedicated and caring individual to join our Under Twos team as a Caregiver. We are seeking someone who is passionate about providing quality care and education in a primary caregiving environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with tamariki, their families/whānau, and our team. We welcome applicants with experience in planning and a commitment to fostering a nurturing and engaging learning environment. This role can be structured within school hours.

About the Role

As a Caregiver at BestStart, you will play a crucial role in shaping the early experiences of our youngest learners. You will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that fosters learning, creativity, and exploration. Our team values collaboration, inclusivity, and continuous professional growth, ensuring that every team member has the opportunity to thrive.

This is a permanent position working 30 hours per week Monday-Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality care and education for tamariki
  • Foster strong relationships with children, families/whānau, and colleagues
  • Support the centre’s philosophy and contribute to a positive learning environment
  • Participate in planning and centre activities
  • Assist in daily operations, including covering breaks where needed


Role Requirements:

  • A genuine passion for working with infants and toddlers
  • Experience working with children under five is preferred
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team
  • Initiative and a proactive approach to caregiving
  • ECE qualification is not required but would be beneficial
