The Roles

We are searching for five outstanding individuals who are enthusiastic about helping others to reach their full potential. As a Support Worker, you will have the privilege of working closely with individuals in the community who have complex disabilities and assisting them in their journey towards independence and mastery of life skills.

You will join an amazing team providing 24/7 residential care for a young male. He is energetic, cheeky, with a love of tech and water. He forms strong bonds with those around him and feels safe in a structured environment where clear boundaries are maintained. As part of his support team, you will play a vital role in helping him develop independence and master essential life skills.

We have five part-time positions available, each offering a unique schedule to suit different availability and commitments.

One position offers 59.5 hours per fortnight, including wake-over shifts from 10:45 PM to 7:15 AM on a rostered basis. This role also requires working one weekend every fortnight, providing flexibility while ensuring consistency in care.

Another position offers 48 hours per fortnight on a rostered basis, including sleepover shifts and weekend work.

These roles provide an opportunity to be part of a dedicated team, supporting an energetic and engaging young man in his daily life while fostering his independence and well-being.

About You

Ideally, you will have experience in providing personal care and possess excellent communication skills. Your strong time management and problem-solving abilities will be essential in delivering effective support. Experience working with individuals with disabilities and challenging behaviours, along with an understanding of autism, will help you meet the specific needs of this service and ensure the most appropriate and tailored support.

Your ability to think creatively will be invaluable in finding solutions to challenging situations. The individual you will be supporting has a keen interest in technology, enjoys purposeful drives past his favourite road signs and going for walks. We are looking for someone who shares these interests and can engage in these activities with enthusiasm, making each experience enjoyable and meaningful for him. You will need to follow and maintain established routines with minimal disruption while being quick-thinking, resilient, and adaptable. A great sense of humour and patience are essential, as is a genuine passion for supporting individuals with disabilities to thrive and grow.

Essential criteria for this role:

  • Experience working with individuals with Autism.
  • Full NZ Driver's license
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand
  • Certificate in Health and Wellbeing, Level 3 and above
  • Must be willing to undergo criminal and Oranga Tamariki checks
  • Desirable
  • Valid first aid certificate
