Job Description

Spark Curiosity & Nurture Independence at Oranga Kindergarten

Calling passionate ECE Kaiako!

Are you a qualified and registered kaiako looking to ignite a love of learning in a nurturing environment?

Oranga Kindergarten is seeking a permanent kaiako to join our dedicated team. We believe in fostering wonder, awe, and a sense of belonging through unique learning experiences.

What Makes Us Special?

  • A World of Wonder: Our kindergarten is filled with natural resources - plants, dried flowers, and upcycled treasures - sparking creativity and a love for the environment.
  • Loose Parts Playground: We provide open-ended materials like found objects that ignite tamariki imaginations. Exploration and discovery are limitless!
  • Authentic Learning: Real-life items like wooden dressers and teapots become tools for curiosity and play. These hands-on resources offer diverse textures and shapes, fostering deeper understanding.
  • Inquiry Champions: Tamariki are active participants in their learning through investigation and exploration. We encourage them to ask questions, research ideas, and discover answers, building critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Seamless School Transition: We take pride in our highly regarded program, ensuring a smooth transition to school through close collaboration with whānau, local schools, and tamariki.
  • Nurturing Independence: We celebrate self-confidence and encourage tamariki to try new things independently. This supportive environment empowers them to develop the skills needed to thrive.
  • Strong Partnerships: Collaboration is key! We work hand-in-hand with whānau and schools, sharing information vital to each child's unique learning journey.

We're Looking for Someone Who:

  • Holds a current ECE teacher registration and first aid.
  • Thrives in a collaborative and supportive team environment.
  • Embraces bicultural practices and confidently utilises ICT as a teaching tool.
  • Values open communication and building strong relationships with tamariki, whānau, and the community.
  • Champions inclusivity and celebrates the richness of our multicultural community.
  • Demonstrates strong planning, assessment, and documentation skills.
