Mō te tūranga - About the role

We are looking for three Health Care Assistants to join our Bureau team to work 20 hours per week, predominately based at Woburn Home, our residential aged care home in Lower Hutt. Our Bureau covers the wider Wellington region and as such you may also be given the opportunity to cover shifts at our other Wellington Homes in Karori, Johnsonville, and Tawa, so flexibility is key.

As a Health Care Assistant, you will be responsible for providing support to our residents in their daily living and social requirements. Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Deliver the highest standard of personalised care to every resident
  • Support and encourage residents to maintain their independence and make decisions for themselves
  • Assist and support the activities of daily living in a way that meets the Eden principles and the Domains of Wellbeing
  • Take instruction and tasks from the Registered Nurse
  • Ensure resident’s needs are attended to effectively and in a timely manner


Our Bureau team provide an important role by covering planned and unplanned absences, such as sickness and annual leave, so you will benefit from guaranteed hours each week which will rotate around the shift roster. This will therefore, involve working a variety of shifts over the full 7 day week.

Mō koe - About You

As well as a passion for the wellbeing of older people, you will be enthusiastic but patient and well organised; with great interpersonal skills. You will share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect. In addition, you will have:

  • Careerforce Level 3 Health and Wellbeing Certificate would be ideal
  • Ability to be an active member of a team environment
  • Good verbal communication and documentation skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be able to work flexibly, as you may be rostered for morning, afternoon, evening, night or weekend shifts
  • Must be willing to work across sites in the Wellington Region
