The Associate Director Treasury Projects role is primarily focussed on:

  • the Balance Sheet Pricing & Performance project, to develop and implement an enhanced Liquidity Transfer Pricing (LTP) methodology. the RBNZ Review of policy for branches of overseas banks (Branch Review) project.
  • The role sits within the Westpac NZ Treasury team, and works closely across WNZL Treasury, Group Treasury, WIB Finance, WBCNZ Branch senior leadership, Finance, Product, Pricing and Distribution teams.


Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Reporting directly to the Director Balance Sheet Management within the Treasury (Finance) department, you will:

  • Work in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to conduct a gap analysis between current and future LTP states to draw insights into the individual impact assessment, identify risks, gaps and/or weaknesses.
  • Develop LTP principles and operating model changes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to support identification and execution of balance sheet optimisation and efficiency opportunities within risk appetite.
  • Work together with relevant stakeholders to develop and implement key sustainable detective/preventative controls, to mitigate financial and non-financial risks in both Banks pertaining to the Products and Customers migrating from the Branch to WNZL.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to assimilate and manipulate data requests to meet the execution priorities of migration from Branch to WNZL while considering other WNZL compliance requirements.
  • Develop and deliver high quality presentations for senior stakeholder review and approval.
  • Perform related duties as assigned, within the scope of role and as required by senior leadership.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Commerce or Accounting along with CA, CPA or CFA qualified.
  • 10+ years broad based banking experience
  • Experience within a Treasury environment
  • Proven experience in analysis and reporting
  • Financial Modelling / Advanced user of Excel
  • Knowledge of Transfer Pricing methodologies, behavioural curves, bank pricing factors
  • Knowledge of Treasury and Financial Markets products.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills and ability to work with multiple stakeholders across all levels of the business.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and communicate insights effectively.
  • Ability to work at pace in a dynamic environment.
  • Motivated and adaptable with a growth mindset
