He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Auckland Council’s Parks & Community Facilities Department is offering a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Programme Manager – Natural Environment Targeted Rate (NETR) to join the Regional Parks team. This is a key role for the Council, supporting the Conservation portfolio in the delivery and management of the NETR work programme across Regional Parks. A key focus of the role is to provide leadership and direction, along with support in budget management, reporting, liaison, and advocacy for the Regional NETR work programme.
You could expect to work on:
- Act as the main point of contact between Regional Parks Project Managers, other NETR Programme Managers, the NETR Steering Group, and Regional Parks.
- Build and maintain relationships with other teams to reallocate under-spent budgets for additional support when needed.
- Develop future business cases for resourcing that aligns to and outlining in the long-term strategy and programme goals.
- Review the programme to ensure we are meeting outcomes and KPIs.
- Monitor the financial programme, assist with setting the draft budget, and confirm the final allocation each year.
- Oversee budget spending and reallocate funds between projects to ensure the budget is used effectively.
- Create programme reports including NETR dashboard annual reporting

This role requires experience 5+ years in the leadership role in a programme development space. You will have experience in similar roles within large, complex, and potentially political organisations.
We will be looking for specific experience with the key role requirements:
- A degree-level qualification in a relevant field (e.g. parks, open space, recreation, policy/planning, or natural resource management).
- Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to build strong relationships and achieve results.
- Works in a professional and effective manner to deliver on the outcomes of the program.
- Experience leading programmes that engage the community, with a focus on customer satisfaction and successful delivery.
- Working knowledge of Council’s financial systems.
