Wellington City Council is on track deliver the most ambitious capital works programme our city has ever seen. The Infrastructure & Delivery group is central to much of this mahi.

The HUP2 Programme is a critical initiative that focuses on delivering upgrades to approximately 220 social housing properties over the next 10 years. This programme is aimed at improving the quality and sustainability of housing for our tenants and to help us with this important mahi, we are looking to add a proactive and detail-oriented Programme Coordinator to support the successful delivery of the HUP2 Programme.

As the Programme Coordinator, you will work within the Property & Capital Projects team to provide coordination and management support for a range of projects, ensuring that all project activities are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with the Long-Term Plan.

The role will require close collaboration with a variety of stakeholders, including the Programme Director, Project Managers, and the Rehousing Lead. You will be pivotal in providing an overall view of the programme and its progress, ensuring clear communication and effective project management throughout.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of HUP2 Programme projects.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including the Properties team, and external groups like Te Toi Mahana.
  • Assist in coordinating and reporting on the overall programme, managing timelines, and ensuring timely delivery of project outcomes.
  • Provide accurate, efficient, and timely reporting on programme progress, financials, and status updates.
  • Coordinate meetings across various programme groups (e.g., HUP2 Programme Board, Project Boards, and more), ensuring proper documentation (e.g., meeting minutes, action items).
  • Develop and maintain programme process and practice documentation.
  • Facilitate HUP2 onboarding for new programme/project staff, contract staff, and service providers.
  • Perform routine programme coordination tasks to ensure smooth operations and stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaborate effectively with other members of the Property & Capital Projects team and wider Council staff.


What We're Looking For:

  • Strong programme coordination skills, with a focus on delivering outcomes within complex projects and multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and report on multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in project management processes and procedures, with a focus on timeliness and accuracy.
  • Ability to work autonomously while also being part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially in financial and progress reporting.
  • Experience or familiarity with the social housing sector is a plus.
  • The remuneration for this role will be between $79,356 - $98,027 depending on skills and experience.
