Job Description

Are you passionate about food and enjoy cooking? Do you find joy in creating meals that children love?

Our vibrant centre is looking for a skilled cook to prepare nutritious and delicious meals for our little ones. As our cook, you will play a vital role in preparing dishes that not only nourish our tamariki but also provide them with the essential energy they need to thrive, learn, and engage in playful activities!

This is a permanent full-time role from Monday to Friday, 30 hours per week.

About Us:

Our centre revolves around child-led, learning through play and exploration. Our children’s ideas spring from their imaginations, not from screens. Our big open play space allows our tamariki to engage in authentic, exciting interactions with the ‘real world’ and its elements. We believe that animals have much to teach children and offer children a wide variety of animals to interact with, including ponies, ducks, birds, turtles, chickens, and even a lizard called Sly!

About you:

  • Experience in cooking for large groups, be it in a childcare centre or other environment
  • Able to work well in a fast-paced environment, at times under pressure
  • Fit and active, as this is a busy role
  • Great communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with parents and children
  • Able to manage a budget
  • Competent in maintaining written records in line with the Food Act requirements
  • Flexible in approach, but also able to work to a daily schedule

As a valued staff member, you are guaranteed:

  • Discounted childcare
  • Guidance and mentoring
  • A friendly, fun team environment
  • Annual flu vaccinations

Join the amazing world of Early Childhood and create nutritious delectable food that puts a smile on children! Apply now and send in your CV today!

Please note: Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
