About Us
At Hutt City Council our vision is to build a connected, resilient and inclusive city where all of our people thrive - Kia noho mai tēnei tāone hei pou herenga waka, hei pou herenga kaupapa, hei wāhi whai hua ki hōna iwi.
Our council has set out a bold and ambitious plan for us to achieve. We work hard to deliver the best outcomes for our communities, are flexible in our approach, and we're committed to creating an inclusive and progressive work environment for our staff.
About the role
We have two exciting permanent opportunities to join our team at War Memorial Library as a Pou Tiaki - this is essentially a Host that welcomes customers into our beautiful facilities.
The role of the Pou Tiaki is to be the friendly and welcoming face at our War Memorial Library providing information and support to our customers. You'll be the connection between us and the customers, assisting with a variety of things from library services, events and functions, general enquires and other adhoc duties.
Our Neighbourhoods & Communities group works with the community to realise its full potential. Maintaining active and vibrant networks, both within Council and across our shared spaces, our Neighbourhoods & Communities group aims to enhance the impact of our collective efforts for the communities we serve.
About You
To be successful in this role you'll thrive at front line customer service. You'll be passionate about enabling reading, information and digital literacies, and be proud to be an integral part of making that happen. You may be studying towards (or have completed) a degree or professional library qualification.
Working with our team, you'll have a variety of different responsibilities including delivering library programmes to children and adults. We are seeking someone who embraces biculturalism and cultural diversity, is technologically savvy, and has confidence dealing with a wide range of customer groups.
Applications close Tuesday 24 December 2024 @ 11.55pm.
Due to the upcoming holiday period, there may also be delays with communicating with candidates. We apologise for any inconvenience. We will look to review applications as they come in, and may progress with interviews before the closing date and encourage you to apply as soon as possible. We reserve the right to withdraw the job advertisement at any time. We also note this may require us to continue the process in the new year.
