Our Commercial Operations Group are a financial ‘supermarket’ offering our Co-op a pick n mix of solutions across commercial finance, store ownership, funding, financial planning & management, data analysis & reporting, accounting & transactional services including payroll, AR & AP & master data solutions.

Te Tūranga – About the role
The Group Finance team is our centre of excellence for all accounting, financial reporting, tax, fixed assets, and financial due diligence for Foodstuffs North Island and related entities and we now have an opportunity to recruit for the role of Group Accounting Manager.

Working closely with the Head of Group Finance and a senior leader within the team, you will work collaboratively and cross functionally to deliver financial due diligence, reporting requirements and provision of finance driven insights to enable our decision makers. Key focus areas include:

· Development & coaching of team members to build bench strength capability & inspire to be their best individually & collectively every day
· Providing operational accounting support across the centre with a focus on ensuring appropriate controls, policies & processes are embedded across the business
· Ensuring technology is appropriately leveraged & opportunities to simplify processes are front of mind
· Identifying & executing changing accounting regulations & standards including preparing & presenting technical papers for delivery to stakeholders
· Undertaking financial due diligence on potential acquisitions, with recommendations & delivering integration pathway & milestones
· Focusing on operational & process metrics, working collaboratively with the business to identify opportunities to simplify processes, surface data & improve performance

He kōrero mōu - About you
With a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Commerce you will be comfortable operating both at a strategic and tactical level, taking ownership with well-developed commercial and financial acumen.

You will offer a strong track record in financial management, preferably trained within big 4 practice, experience in large enterprises and will have a solid grasp of financial controls and process supported with knowledge of finance ERP systems / SAP.

Strong, practical commercial understanding, and a flare for simplifying complex business problems will be a strength as will be working collaboratively to influence key stakeholders & senior leadership teams.

Alongside this, you will have the natural ability to share knowledge, upskill and coach others across the Group Finance Team and will always be curious when it comes to continuous improvement initiatives!

It goes without saying you will be methodical, organised, comfortable working and analysing independently, but most importantly you will appreciate strategic imperatives while operating effectively at an operational level.
