He whakamārama mo te tūranga mahi | About the role:
Are you looking for your first step into the Maritime Engineering industry? Our entry level, Engine Room Wiper fixed term position could be just for you! This is a walk on, walk off position so you do not live on the ship; you’ll be working 14 days on / 7days off, 10 hours per shift.
As a Wiper you will be painting, cleaning, oiling and greasing and providing general support and engine room maintenance in the vessel's engine rooms. You will work closely with the broader Engineering team and directly with both the Motormen and First Officer Engineers who will assign your tasks for the shift.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills, be highly enthusiastic and enjoy a role that includes following procedures, instructions and problem solving. We have a great team here - you'll be working as part of a supportive and inclusive team environment.
This is a unique and potentially hazardous environment where safety is paramount so a high level of physical fitness, team spirit and Health and Safety focus are a must in this role. As you'll be working at sea, you will need the ability to swim and ideally not suffer from sea sickness. Complementing these attributes you will have:
- A genuine passion about the Maritime Engineering industry
- The willingness to "go the extra mile", be reliable, punctual and self-motivated
- A strong sense of urgency and ability to work with speed and accuracy – safely
- An ability to pass a Maritime Medical and a drug test
