BestStart Silverstream is seeking an experienced, warm, and nurturing Nursery Teacher to join our busy, vibrant Nursery Room. Our purpose-built early learning centre in Kaiapoi, Christchurch, provides a calm and supportive environment where tamariki are seen as capable and competent learners. About the Role

This permanent role offers 34 hours per week (Monday – Friday) on a rotating schedule between 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

Our Nursery Room is a respectful, relationship-based environment where we:

  • Practice freedom of movement, allowing infants and toddlers to develop naturally at their own pace.
  • Follow RIE and Pikler-inspired principles, valuing respectful care and child-led learning.
  • Use a key teacher approach, ensuring that each child has a dedicated teacher to support their growth and wellbeing.


What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a passionate and nurturing teacher who is committed to providing the best care and education for infants and toddlers. The ideal candidate will have:

  • B Ed/Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE) and current Teacher Certification
  • In-depth knowledge of infant and toddler pedagogy
  • A passion for RIE and respectful care principles or a willingness to grow in these areas
  • Strong understanding of Te Whāriki and ECE regulations
  • A warm, nurturing, and passionate approach to teaching
