Kia mahi ngātahi mō Pōneke mō tōna āpōpō Working together for Wellington's future.
We're Working for Wellington. Wellington City Council's team provides more than 400 services every day for Wellingtonians - everything from parks and pools to consents and cemeteries - playing our part in making Pōneke an inclusive, sustainable, and creative capital for people to live, work and play.

Our support and advisory team are a great team that works collaboratively to make things happen across Council. We have a people focus, strong values and are very much about caring for how Council works. You will find us to be open, engaging and embracing of new ideas; the team is pretty small and everyone works independently but also collaboratively. We have big ambitions that are centred on the needs of our customers, and we're excited about helping the organisation achieve positive results and outcomes.

We provide advice and support to help business units build public trust and confidence in the services that the Council delivers and the decisions we make. We put customers at the centre of what we do, we work collaboratively with others to ensure that we make things easy and as seamless as possible, from our customer's point of view.

About the role
You will provide quality assurance advice and insights to strengthen the organisation's governance and internal controls. You'll be responsible for leading and delivering assurance engagements across a diverse range of operations to help shape how we provide services to our ratepayers and communities. You will also lead our integrity programme including fraud awareness activities, the protected disclosure process and contribute to building a culture of integrity at the Council.

There will be plenty of opportunities for continuous improvements in the way we work, so you will be curious, open minded and an innovative thinker who can help us design ways to deliver the assurance and integrity services in new and better ways!

To be successful, you must be a strong communicator who collaborates well and has good report writing skills. You'll have a Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or finance and/or at least 8 years working in a similar level position. You'll have skills in designing or assessing controls and processes. Investigation and forensic audit expertise would be amazing but isn't essential.

You'll have experience in the practical application of assurance methodologies, tools and approaches, and can demonstrate how you have previously championed organisational improvements. You will be a strategic thinker with awesome relationship building and influencing skills. Your ability to build trust and confidence with the people you work with will set you up for success.
