They’ve earned their formidable reputation and loyal following through decades of delivery and trusted advice, and there is now an amazing opportunity for a proven Business Development Manager to join their team here in Wellington.

About the role:

Reporting to the Business Development Director as part of a talented nationwide team, this role will have a Wellington market focus and work closely with Partners and Senior Associates to strategically identify and develop commercial opportunities across the firm's entire legal services portfolio, and with both existing and new clients.

In addition to taking the lead on Bids and Tenders, the role offers awesome variety and the chance to develop and implement strategic initiatives at a local level, while also supporting nationwide capability uplift activity and any local brand awareness efforts and activations. .

What you bring:

As the ideal candidate, you’re a current Business Development Manager that brings the following experience, skills and traits:

  • 5+ years’ experience in Business Development or Business Partnering role within a legal environment, or within a diversified business consultancy.
  • Tertiary qualification in marketing, or relevant business field.
  • A demonstrable track record of successfully leading bids and tenders, and driving strategic growth with a portfolio of corporate and government clients.
  • A demonstrable understanding of corporate and government procurement and tendering processes.
  • Commercial acumen that includes knowledge of both the business and political landscape in New Zealand, and the ability to incorporate into winning strategy and activity.
  • Fantastic interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and style.
  • Fantastic relationship management skills that will enable you to quickly become a trusted and sought-out advisor to senior legal staff.


You will be well supported, with national best practice frameworks and resources to draw from as well as the expertise of various key functions including Marketing & Communications, Design & Publishing, and Events.
