Te Tūranga – About the role
This is an Assistant Category Manager opportunity with a twist…..
You will own the Produce category in its entirety and support the Category Manager with Butchery and Seafood so will be involved across multiple categories which offers a unique learning experience for the right person. A key role in our team you will:

- Plan, organise & own the deliverables for the Produce category - you will align priorities with overall Banner strategy and agree goals, measures and service levels to grow and maintain market share
- Establish operational standards and ensure brand consistent positioning across Gilmours
- Provide ongoing education for Store Buyers, Sales Managers and Owners to enhance knowledge of the Produce Category
- Manage key relationships including managing activities around sales growth, margin enhancement, onboarding & maintenance of National Accounts business
- Develop & explore opportunities for prepared produce including range development & end user business development
- Manage pricing into National Accounts & support National Account customer tender processes
- Streamline processes & simplify ordering process for store buyers to allow them to access best price with minimal administration

He kōrero mōu - About you
Ideally, you’ll come from a background in buying or from a store and have experience in FMCG or Fresh Produce. You’ll also:

- Have experience in operational management including ranging, sourcing, pricing and promotion, business analysis, trends & problem identification
- Be comfortable with negotiation & management of commercial supplier / distribution agreements
- Understand market trends & influences, both within New Zealand & globally
- Be good with numbers, data & analysis with the ability to multitask & have an eye for detail. Experience using SAP & Excel is what we need!

You will need to be comfortable dealing with ambiguity & thrive on working with a constantly changing seasonal supply where you need to be agile & act quickly.
