About the Company

You'll be working for a small and unique but complex business with a national remit. Based in Central Wellington, in an open plan office on Featherston Street, you'll quickly feel at home working as part of this close-knit team.

About the role

You'll initially be joining this business on a 3-month fixed-term contract however there is a strong likelihood to extend a further 3 months and then for the role to be established on a permanent basis for the right candidate. Assisting the CFO, you will be responsible for delivering the following:

  • Financial month-end journals, variance analysis and board reports
  • End-end payroll using Xero payroll software
  • Supporting with accounts payable and accounts receivable when required
  • Daily bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Maintaining the fixed-asset register including monthly depreciation
  • Processing expense claims
  • Bi-monthly GST returns and quarterly FBT returns
  • Uploading banking/payroll batches and fund transfer requests
  • Providing expertise and support to regional offices as and when required


What you will bring

In order to be considered for this role, it's crucial that you currently hold a Chartered Accountancy qualification and are also available to start a new role on short notice (max 2 weeks). It would be ideal if you have experience with Xero software (but not essential) and you must also be a confident user of MS Excel. You'll ideally have worked in small-medium sized business in a similar role with varying duties and multiple priorities to juggle. You'll be self-driven, with a high attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously.
