The Gartshore Group are looking for an Intermediate level Estimator or Quantity Surveyor to join their team delivering medium sized commercial construction and high-spec interior fit-outs to the commercial, residential and retail sector throughout New Zealand. We are currently looking for a well-rounded and driven Estimator or Quantity Surveyor.

Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, this role is working in the medium size construction, interior fitout industry. The position involves planning and managing costs related to multiple projects, calculating budgets based on premium clients customized requirements, tendering, procurement and preparing detailed estimates to ensure budgets are sufficient for each stage of construction. You will seek to minimise the costs of each project and enhance value for money, whilst still achieving the highest level of standards and second to none quality Gartshore are renowned for.

ABOUT YOU:

• If you have the right attitude and are driven to exceed in your field we want to chat, ideally we are looking for candidates that possess the following:
• A relevant QS Qualification with 5 years NZ based QS/Estimating experience or equivalent experience
• Experience monitoring and analysing P&L in the construction and interior fit out industry, or similar
• Joinery experience or understanding beneficial, but not a requirement
• Tender (bid) management and costs proposal experience
• Up to date knowledge of relevant legislation, including the CCA, New Zealand Building Code, the New Zealand Building Act 2004 and local by-laws
• Experience contributing to day to day management and strategic direction of the business
• Knowledge of building methodology and materials
• High level of interpersonal client relationship building skills
• The ability to read and interpret plans and estimate building, material, labour costs
• Experience in negotiating with suppliers and contractors to obtain the best price
• Exceptional planning, organisational, and communication skills
• More senior position available for exceptional candidate
