Job Description

Are you passionate about fostering community connections and enhancing civic education? The Far North District Council is seeking a dynamic Civic Engagement & Education Coordinator to join our team! Te Wero – The Challenge

This vital role is for a duration period of approximately 8 months, concluding in December 2025. The role will be provided hands on training to deliver “train the trainer sessions” for Council Officers handling nominations and special voting, ensuring compliance with legislation requirements are met.

Additionally, the position requires creating and delivering CEE work programme components for specific audiences including but not limited to our hardly reached communities or lowest voter turnout demographics youth and Māori, using a data-driven approach to enhance accessibility and remove barriers. It also involves coordinating education workstreams to inform and empower all residents and ratepayers on active participation in democratic processes.

The role includes developing and maintaining relationships with key partners and stakeholders with the aim to strengthen relationships in a meaningful and relevant manner.
