The Strategic Insights and Reporting Analyst supports Callaghan Innovation’s statutory reporting requirements and insight generation to maximise impact for the Science, Innovation & Technology (SI&T) sector and enhance operational efficiency.

Your expertise:

The Strategic Insights and Reporting Analyst is a highly numeric, inquisitive and analytical problem solver, with proven experience in reporting and translating data

into actionable insights. You’ll have immaculate attention to detail and accuracy, combined with the ability to simplify and ‘tell the story’ of data.


You’ll have strong written presentation skills and strong interpersonal skills. You’ll have the ability to juggle multiple projects at once and are adaptable and able to work in a rapid-paced and changing environment.

You bring with you:

• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in data processing, reporting, analytics and insight generation
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in using SQL to deliver business reporting, business insights and building and maintaining PowerBI dashbooards
• Understanding of systems integrations and digital savviness as it pertains to data inputs, data storage/data warehouses and data extraction
• Strong quantitative analysis skills
• Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate the story delivering easily consumable presentations
• Ability to plan and self-manage work to meet deadlines

In your daily you achieve:

• Accurate and timely report generation that delivers on our statutory reporting obligations
• Creation and maintenance of dashboards to visualise key metrics and trends, using multiple sources of data
• Work with the Strategy and Insights Lead to define business problems and design right-sized approaches
• Collect data and/or integrate numerous data sets to enable deep and meaningful insights to be formulated
• Produce ad-hoc analyses and reports as required
• Support improvements to the current database/CRM through identifying additional data / data structures needed for ad hoc requests, reporting or Voice Of Customer improvements
• Prepare business documentation (non-technical) of data definitions and processes
