About the Role

Our client OMV New Zealand is looking for a Senior Operator/Control Room Operator. As a member of the Maui Onshore Operations Team, the purpose of the role of Senior Operator/Control Room Operator is to safely operate the Maui Production Station (MPS) and associated processes in the most efficient and cost-effective manner without compromising technical integrity and Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) elements.

The place of work will be Maui Production Station, South Taranaki. In future, and when a competent Control Room Operator, the place of work will be New Plymouth based.

The work pattern is 3 days, 3 nights, 6 days off, but this can vary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the appropriate safety and environmental management practices are applied to the execution of all work undertaken, and promote safe, environmentally compliant and quality work practices amongst other team members.
  • Optimise production to agreed quality and volume specifications as prescribed in the facilities operating manual, or as noted in Riskpoynt Deviations and/or Temporary Operating Procedures within the Operations Integrity Suite.
  • Update and manage Operations Integrity registers within the OI suite.
  • Carry out appointed role as area technician, manage production areas as assigned.
  • Lead the Operations Team as sole charge Control Room Operator at nights and weekends to achieve work and production targets.
  • Endorse permits and manage the area of accountability as per the permit to work system requirements.
  • Write, review and execute Isolation Procedures to enable safe access to plant and machinery.


Your Profile

  • Relevant trade or industry qualification and significant industry experience
  • Knowledge and experience in hydrocarbon plant maintenance and production operations, ideally as a panel / control room operator
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with other team members and stakeholders
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and display resilience
  • Understanding of Technical & Asset Integrity
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and respond to a wide range of technical issues at a practical level
