Parks & Community Facilities (PCF) is dedicated to making great places Aucklander’s love by supporting several related services such as asset maintenance, management and renewals of Parks, Open Spaces, Buildings, Facilities, Conservation Areas and Urban Ngahere (forest). As kaitiaki (guardian) of Auckland Council facilities, we play a vital role in promoting the wellbeing of our communities and environment while also delivering strategically significant programmes.

PCF delivers upward of $200 million in capital and renewal works annually, with 90+ project staff working on these projects. As Principal Project Management Specialist, and as the subject matter expert in Project Management, you’ll ensure Council continuously delivers value for money and future-fit facilities through providing thought leadership on all areas of project management.

You’ll champion industry best-practice, providing advice, guidance, tools and techniques across the department, and monitor progress and outcomes.

He kōrero mōu: About you

  • We’ll be looking for a tertiary qualification in project management or similar, along with professional body registration such as Prince2, PMP, CAPM or C3PM.
  • You’ll bring extensive experience in project management of building and/or open space projects, including business case writing, multi-criteria analysis, cost/benefit analysis, risk and change management, sustainability and safety in design principles.
  • Your experience will also include development of organisational project and programme management frameworks, and the delivery of associated training for project and programme managers.
  • You’ll have a natural ability to transfer knowledge in an inspiring way, tailoring your approach to the different groups to ensure your ‘training’ is accepted and made part of the persons daily way of delivering projects. In a nutshell ‘people will always gravitate towards you for support and knowledge’.
