As Privacy and Data Ethics Manager, you are one of our privacy SMEs providing specialist advisory tautoko (support) to the business. You ensure the safe and appropriate use of personal information and confidential data across BNZ. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a strong background in privacy.

Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We sat down with our Privacy Officer, and they let us know the following about the tūranga (role). 

What is the tīma culture and environment like?

We are a professional and collaborative tīma who strive provide the business and our customers with high quality timely tautoko.

What projects / mahi (work) will the candidate be working on now and into the next year?

The tūranga will be focused on supporting the Privacy Officer in providing privacy advice to the business, including the completion of Privacy Impact Assessments and Data Ethics Assessments. You may also respond to information requests from individuals and tautoko the management of privacy incidents.

What are some of the tasks the person in this tūranga will complete?

Complete detailed Privacy Impact Assessments and Data Ethics Assessments for complex business initiatives. Provide direct advice on privacy and data ethics to key stakeholders, including the Data Steward community. Assist with the management of privacy breaches and notification to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner if required. Consider privacy and data ethic risks to the business, and incorporate this into data risk management activities.

What is the most exciting thing about this opportunity?

It's the best of both worlds, being part of an amazing tīma and getting to work with stakeholders from across BNZ on a wide variety of initiatives.

What is the most challenging thing about this opportunity?

Managing multiple priorities to ensure compliance timelines and business expectations are met, while delivering a high-quality mahi product every time. This is a fast-paced environment, and the privacy issues the faced by the business vary greatly.

What will success look like for the candidate in this tūranga?

Success will come from building strong relationships with the business and becoming a trusted advisor. You will have the ability to understand what the business is seeking to achieve, and be able to guide them in the safe and appropriate use of data and information to meet these goals.
