About Us
Ngā Tamariki Puāwai o Tāmaki | Auckland Kindergarten Association (AKA) has been shaping the future of early childhood education in Aotearoa since 1908. With 108 kindergartens, four KiNZ centres, and a dedicated support team, we are committed to nurturing confident, competent learners through high-quality early childhood education.
Our kindergartens are deeply rooted in Te Tiriti o Waitangi, ensuring a bicultural, inclusive learning environment that celebrates diversity and strengthens whānau connections. At AKA, tamariki are at the heart of everything we do, and we strive to provide a safe, enriching space where every child's identity and learning journey is valued.
About Yendarra Kindergarten
Located in Ōtara, Yendarra Kindergarten is a welcoming, community-focused learning space where tamariki, whānau, and kaiako come together as one. We honour and celebrate cultural diversity, ensuring each child feels a strong sense of belonging and connection to their identity.
At Yendarra, we believe that tamariki are taonga—unique individuals with their own strengths, perspectives, and learning pathways. Our play-based, inquiry-led approach encourages exploration, creativity, and critical thinking, allowing children to develop at their own pace in a nurturing and supportive environment.
We place great value on whānau involvement, fostering strong relationships with parents and caregivers to ensure collaborative learning experiences. Sustainability and a deep respect for Papatūānuku are woven into our daily practices, helping tamariki develop a lifelong appreciation for the natural world.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a qualified, registered ECE Kaiako to join our team on a permanent, part-time basis (27.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-quality early learning environment and be part of a team that truly values biculturalism, inclusivity, and community engagement.
As part of our supportive, collaborative team, you will bring enthusiasm, creativity, and a commitment to child-led learning. You will help nurture an environment where tamariki feel empowered, supported, and inspired to learn.

- Embrace Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the values of Te Whāriki, supporting a bicultural curriculum

- Foster a strong connection with nature, integrating sustainability into daily teaching practices
- Encourage tamariki to develop at their own pace, nurturing confidence and independence
