Job Description

Position Overview
Are you passionate about supporting research excellence? We are seeking a Research Post-Award Advisor to provide high-quality administrative support for post-award research management. This is not a researcher role but supports others to achieve success through efficient and effective post-award research advice and administration.

Your responsibilities will include delivering exceptional customer service, working with others to identify and solve issues, upskilling and encouraging good practice, maintaining accurate corporate records related to University research activities, and supporting the delivery of externally funded research commitments.

To be successful you will need:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
  • A proactive and encouraging mindset and ability to engage constructively with experts across a wide variety of specialist areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and maintain work accuracy.
  • Demonstrated experience in office practices, standard office software packages, email and project management administration.

As a part of the Research Operations team, the Research Post-Award Advisor is vital in providing administrative project management and coordination support for our researchers. Along with working closely with project leads and College business units, the role will also work closely with the Research Operations team, leaning on the expertise within the team (legal, financial, funder requirements) to ensure Massey is successfully delivering on its research commitments.

Our ideal person would have a Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline with relevant experience; or extensive experience of research administration; or a combination of both. To be successful in this role you will be highly motivated, have highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, be solution-focused, and have strong organisational and time management skills. An ability to work to tight deadlines, anticipate future requirements, and monitor and review procedures is also required.

Massey University offers flexible hours, encourages a healthy work-life balance, and offers a range of other benefits including a lovely campus environment, cafes and a gym onsite.

Located with our Research Operations team, but spending time within our colleges, this is a permanent role of 37.5 hours per week. Ideally you will be based on our beautiful Manawatū Campus, Palmerston North; however, working from our Wellington or Auckland campuses may be negotiated for the right candidate. Renumeration will be commensurate with skills and experience within a Grade 6 ($67,184 - $95,514).
