An excellent opportunity has arisen to join our Compliance Leadership team in the delivery of second line Compliance services for Westpac New Zealand. We seek a proactive and astute person who is customer-centric, and solutions focused. The ideal candidate will understand the importance of building trusted relationships with stakeholders and proactively identify simplification and continuous improvement opportunities. Successfully managing multiple competing priorities and efficient delivery will be core strengths.

Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, this is a critical role in leading and monitoring the Westpac Compliance and Conduct Risk Management Framework (CCR) and the Fair Conduct Framework requirements.

This fast-paced role requires quick and accurate work turnaround and central to the role will be your ability to influence key stakeholders on sound CCR practices, which will include:

  • Ongoing iterative development of the Framework implementation strategy, working together with the CCO, Westpac Risk and business partners. Taking a lead role to drive the implementation of the Framework strategy.
  • Provide specialist Compliance-related support to wider Westpac Risk community and key programmes.
  • Manage key Compliance control activities, including attestation, incident management and policy registers.
  • Provide strategic advice in relation to the CCR Framework
  • Provide practical and accurate advice, guidance and training on CCR management. In conjunction with Westpac Learning and Development, develop and maintain compliance training for Westpac employees
  • Leadership, role modelling and development of the wider Compliance team members and direct reports.


Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

  • You’ll have secured your bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) combined with a minimum of 5 years work experience in a Risk related, Legal, Financial Regulatory or Audit function.
  • Leadership and ability to influence, critical thinking skills
  • Working knowledge of key legislation, regulations and global Compliance best practices relating to Conduct risk management.
  • Foundational knowledge risk management practices and methodologies
  • Compliance experience in the banking/financial services sector preferred
