Position Overview
Massey University’s School of Aviation is seeking a Remote Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) Controller fixed term for 12 months to lead our RPAS instructional team and drive the growth of our RPAS training programmes. This role offers an opportunity to work at the forefront of aviation education, ensuring compliance with CAA NZ regulations while developing innovative RPAS training solutions. The salary range for this position is $67,184 – $95,514, depending on skills and experience.

About the Role
As the RPAS Controller, you will:

• Lead and develop a team of RPAS instructors to deliver high-quality training.
• Identify and drive business development opportunities within the RPAS sector.
• Ensure compliance with CAA NZ RPAS regulations and maintain Massey’s RPAS exposition.
• Integrate RPAS operations within the School’s flight operations support functions.

About You
We are looking for a candidate with:

• A strong aviation and business background, with pilot qualifications and instructional experience.
• Experience in RPAS operations (preferred) or a willingness to obtain necessary RPAS pilot, flight examiner, and operator certifications.
• Proven leadership and business development experience in aviation or related industries.
