About the company:

Rangatira Investments is a leading investor in private companies across New Zealand. They are a long-term investor, providing capital to founders and owners of mid-market private companies. Their diversified assets include Healthcare, Consumer, Agriculture, and Industrials, with a broad investment mandate.

The Role:

Working closely with the Investment Partner and Investment Director, you will be part of a small team assisting with the evaluation and execution of private market investments, portfolio management, and corporate development. Additionally, the investment team supports governance for portfolio companies, either working alongside or directly participating in investee company boards.

Key Deliverables:

  • Assist with the investment management function of the portfolio.
  • Support the assessment and execution of new investment opportunities and initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain co-investment relationships with domestic and peer funds
  • Create, update, and analyse financial and valuation models.
  • Conduct company and industry sector research, identifying themes and trends to drive superior portfolio performance.
  • Assist with due diligence, deal structuring, negotiation, and transaction processes.
  • Monitor the financial performance and progress of existing investments.


About You:

We are seeking candidates with a genuine interest in private investing, with 2-4 years of experience in Big Four corporate finance/M&A advisory, investment banking (with M&A/ECM experience), private equity, or strategy consulting. We also welcome interest from returning New Zealanders currently working offshore.

  • Relevant and strong tertiary academic record.
  • Willingness to undertake further training.
  • A proactive planner who maintains direction and focus.
  • Sound commercial judgement and perspective.
  • A keen eye for detail with sharp observational skills.
  • Flexible, resilient, and adaptable.
  • A self-starter and ability to work in a small team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
