Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
BNZ's Large Corporates Team proactively provides support to a broad portfolio of customers across New Zealand’s largest privately owned and public companies which we consider the engine room for NZ’s economy.
Due to recent business growth we have an excellent opportunity for a strategic and well-established banking professional to join our team in Auckland as a Client Director, to drive further growth in the Large Corporate’s space including sustainable finance.
The focus of this role will be a mixture of maintaining relationships across existing customers, deal origination and origination and execution of sustainable finance deals. An important aspect of the role is delivering market leading relationship banking to BNZ Institutional Banking clients.
We sat down with the Head of Large Corporates, who let us know the following about the role:
What are some of the day to day tasks the person in this role will complete?
- Manage and grow a portfolio of Large Corporate relationships, & collaborate with product partners, Partnership Banking & NAB to deliver a one BNZ/NAB experience.
- Assist the Head of Large Corporate’s with development and execution of sector strategies to enable BNZ to build valuable and longstanding relationships with key customers and achieve IB’s business objectives while maintaining risk profile within appetite.
- Be active in market, building BNZ’s presence through relationships with key influencers such as directors, senior management, advisors, and industry bodies plus originating new opportunities.
- Provide direction and purpose, support, challenge and inspire others to develop their capabilities, and develop self. Engage and inspire others through clear persuasive communication and role model behaviours.
- Work with CIB colleagues to originate and execute sustainable finance deals, with primary focus on transactions across Large Corporate customers. It is also expected that the successful applicant will build a pipeline of opportunities that can covert to sustainable finance deals over time.

What attributes will this person have in order to be successful?
We are looking for a highly organised and ambitious networker, with proven relationship building skills, along with well-developed negotiation & influencing skills at senior management level.
Ideally you will also have a thorough understanding of the issues, risks and trends associated with the corporate banking sector, as well as the ability to understand and communicate complex structures.
