He whakamārama mo te tūranga mahi | About the role:
You will play a pivotal role in planning, executing, and delivering the technology-driven projects that enable KiwiRail to modernise and grow our rail and Interislander ferry services. You will ensure that ICT projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget, aligning to KiwiRail’s strategic goals. Critical to the success of this role is the ability to cultivate and maintain effective working relationships across a wide variety of business and technical stakeholders to ensure the delivery of successful outcomes.
Key accountabilities include:
- Defining the scope, objectives and deliverables of projects and tracking project performance
- Coordinating and managing project teams, including ICT specialists, vendors and other stakeholders
- Identifying, analysing, and mitigating project risks
- Communicating project updates and progress to stakeholders, including senior management
- Monitoring project expenditure to ensure adherence to the approved budget
- Ensuring project deliverables and documentation are completed and evaluated
- Continuously analysing performance, identifying opportunities and making incremental changes to processes with the aim of improving the performance and outcomes of your projects

To be successful in this role, you will bring significant project management experience in IT at enterprise level, along with a customer centric mindset and strong commercial acumen. You will have extensive experience working in a project environment including project management methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall that are considered best practice e.g., PRINCE2, AGILE, PMI etc.
Your financial, project documentation and risk management skillsets will be of a high standard.
Additionally, you will bring strong organisational, and stakeholder influencing abilities and will have a positive, tenacious, and can-do attitude to manage projects to completion.
