Job Description

Are you passionate about food and enjoy cooking? Do you find joy in creating meals that children love?

Our vibrant centre is looking for a skilled cook to prepare nutritious and delicious meals for our little ones. As our cook, you will play a vital role in preparing dishes that not only nourish our tamariki but also provide them with the essential energy they need to thrive, learn, and engage in playful activities!

This is a permanent full-time role from Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.

About Us:

At Silverdale Central, our kaiako create beautiful provocations where materials are carefully selected to provoke curiosity, promote critical thinking, and encourage tamariki to express themselves through various art forms. We believe that every moment is an opportunity for learning, and our kaiako utlise these teachable moments to enrich our children’s understanding of the world around them. With Northern Arena a short stroll away, each week we do an excursion for our tamariki to participate in swimming lessons!

About you:

  • Experience in cooking for large groups, be it in a childcare centre or other environment
  • Able to work well in a fast-paced environment, at times under pressure
  • Fit and active, as this is a busy role
  • Great communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with parents and children
  • Able to manage a budget
  • Competent in maintaining written records in line with the Food Act requirements
  • Flexible in approach, but also able to work to a daily schedule
