Job Description

The Company

My client is an industry leader who is uniquely positioned to expand their market share over the next 3 years. They have experience sustained growth in recent times and have a strategic plan to double their revenue over the next 3-5 years. The business is currently building a well-rounded finance team to spearhead this growth and consequently this hire will form an integral part of their future with a clearly defined progression pathway.

The Role
The role will report to an impressive Commercial Finance Manager (CFM). It is a broad role that will obtain exposure across most of the finance function. Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the month-end close process, including commentaries and recommendations to the wider business
  • Attend monthly meetings with GMs to present key financial findings
  • Active involvement in budgeting and rolling quarterly forecasting
  • Critical review of business processes to ensure clear and effective internal controls
  • Assist with the annual audit process
  • Oversee AP, AR and payroll processing
  • Various other Ad hoc tasks, as required by the CFM or other senior stakeholders

Your profile:
This role is perfectly suited for someone looking for their first move from Big 4 (or comparable). Further, the ideal candidate will have likely come from an audit background. The reason for this is an audit mentality will help to drive out internal controls/best practise for this growing business. As an alternative, we would also consider someone that comes from a limited commercial background in a large and well-established corporate. The right candidate will understand what “good” looks like and will be able to bring that mentality to this business. These traits are critical to ensure the business is best positioned to take advantage of their ambitious but realistic growth plans. Here are some other key criteria:

  • CA or CPA qualification (we will consider someone working towards this)
  • Big 4 (or comparable background) – ideally in audit
  • Proven leadership capability
  • A desire to interact and partner the wider business
  • A continuous improvement mindset
  • An ambitious self-starting personality

To be considered for this role, you must have full working rights in NZ.
