Job Description

We’re seeking a skilled Senior Full Stack Engineer to join a brand-new squad being established here in Auckland building a data infrastructure solution for our IDEXX Veterinary Software portfolio.

This role is hands-on technical work where you’ll tackle complex technical challenges while creating clear paths for the team to follow.  
The primary goal is to lead by example—whether as an engineer, architect, or advocate for quality assurance. Your expertise in any of these areas will allow you to provide guidance and mentorship that empowers the squad.  

IDEXX continues to invest in Veterinary Software with a goal to offer the first vertical SaaS platform for Animal Health. We’re growing both our capacity to deliver impactful software and the technical expertise to tackle future challenges relating to scale. Auckland’s home to our global software center of excellence where we develop a portfolio of cloud platforms and applications.

Some key responsibilities of your role:  

  • Lead from the front, demonstrating your experience by hands on delivering features, showcasing engineering and architectural best practices.  
  • Inspire a culture of accountability and end-to-end ownership of the squad’s product/feature/vision.  
  • Contribute to the definition and evolution of IDEXX’s engineering values, principles, practices, standards and behaviours across all squads.  


In collaboration with your team and Product and Practice Leads, ensure engineering squads deliver:  

  • Fit-for-purpose solutions.   
  • Prioritise pragmatic technical improvements (such as repair, debt recovery, and refactoring).  


What you need to succeed:   

  • Proven experience as a Senior Software Engineer  
  • Proven technical people influencer 
  • Experienced in evolving culture and process towards better engagement, agility, automated testing, and DevSecOps.  
  • Experience with principles and practices related to cloud technologies 
  • Practical knowledge of Systems and/or software design.  
  • Familiarity with modern web technologies (such as React), and cloud backend technologies (such as GoLang, Typescript, .NET, Ruby, Java).  
  • Agile processes including Scrum, Kanban, and/or others.  
  • Previous experience in scaled SaaS environment is hugely desirable
