Job Description

Senior HVAC/Refrigeration Technician
Are you an experienced Senior HVAC/Refrigeration Technician looking for a new opportunity in Wellington? We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to join our client in a workshop-based environment, working within the Rail industry. As a Senior HVAC & Refrigeration Technician, you will play a vital role in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems, while ensuring strict compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform hands-on repairs, installation, and maintenance of HVAC systems in compliance with ISO9001, ISO14001, and ISO45001 standards
  • Use diagnostic tools to determine and implement effective repair plans
  • Ensure all work is carried out with high quality, minimising downtime and rework
  • Maintain accurate documentation and manage refrigerant handling in accordance with regulations
  • Conduct internal training and drive continuous improvement across the team
  • Ensure a clean, organised workshop environment


Skills & Experience:

  • Essential: Certificate III in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (or near completion) and 5+ years’ experience
  • Expertise in troubleshooting and repairing HVAC/refrigeration systems, including leak detection
  • Strong knowledge of refrigerant management and electrical control systems
  • Proficiency with technical tools and diagnostic equipment
  • A current Refrigerant Handling Licence and commitment to safety and compliance
  • Ability to work independently, solve complex issues, and meet deadlines
  • Forklift licence is desirable
