Mō te Tūranga | About the role

Payments Platform provides secure environment enabling superior payment experiences to empower our customers with trusted payments. Within Payments Platform, we have our Cards Domain that support the delivery of resilient and future fit card payment capability for all our customers including business and corporate customers. 

As a Software Consultant, you will apply your Card Payment expertise to help lead the squad in building, supporting, and maintaining our applications and contribute to the overall testing processes within the squad.

You'll be part of a squad on the forefront of working to deliver and support a secure, functional and performant ecosystem to our customers. In our diverse and accepting environment, our people grow their agile mind-set, learn, evolve and utilise their skills, while being empowered to make decisions. You'll have the opportunity to lead and also get hands-on with some interesting and complex pieces of work that integrate on an enterprise scale, all while being part of a smaller squad that makes their own decisions about how to work through prioritisation - so your voice will be heard, and your opinions valued. 

We advocate agile, fully cross functional squads which will take you through all facets of engineering in any given day. We are looking for a mix of payments experience, test management and technical testing skills to support the following activities:

  • Reviewing requirements and specifications.
  • Creating agile testing strategies and plans.
  • Building and supporting test automation.
  • Building and supporting performance testing.
  • Verifying and validating functionality being developed.
  • Analysing and reporting test results.
  • Fostering proactive and continuous improvements within the testers.
  • Working with key stakeholders for testing end to end and obtain sign- off.

We are looking for an individual that will lead the testing within a large programme of work. Someone who not only understands good QA practice that includes engineered test automation, but also someone who can provide non-line management leadership to a test squad. A person who can own and report the overall test status and provide QA guidance to the wider card domain squads, leaders, and stakeholders.

Our technical solutions, drive continuous change for the squads and customers to ensure we are delivering best possible outcomes. You will work collaboratively with our squads and stakeholders to be the voice of test engineering and deliver better & safer customer payment experiences. 



Ngā mea kia whai angitū ahau? | What do I need to be successful?

  • Proven testing leadership
  • Proven knowledge across functional, system, integration, API testing, end to end testing and Performance testing
  • 3+ years of experience of testing within the Card Payments industry
  • Working experience in test simulators (Eg: FINSIM)
  • Create and maintain project level testing strategies
  • Develop sustainable and agile test processes that incorporate test automation
  • Mentoring/ guiding on standards and best practices
  • In-depth technical capabilities to grow .NET/RestSharp/Selenium/BDD test automation
  • Working knowledge of Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines
  • Manage complex integrated test environments and test data
  • Capture, track, and escalate status, risks, and issues to management
  • Experience on test estimating, negotiating and prioritizing of work
  • Provide test sign off against test coverage, execution, defects, and risks
  • Develop strong positive stakeholder relationships over a continuous release stream
  • Has foster proactive and continuous improvements to a testing community
  • Working with key stakeholders for testing end to end and obtain sign- off


In addition, the following would be an advantage: 

  • Financial/banking domain experience
  • Certified in ISTQB Fundamentals
  • Working experience in Cloud technologies
