We are reshaping the way we deliver IT services at Massey University and are looking for an experienced and active leader as Practice Lead, Enterprise Service. You’ll be a seasoned professional with broad experience across Linux, Microsoft365 and others as enterprise systems AND understand how to implement AI technically. Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role
The Practice Lead, Enterprise Services is responsible for the leadership and operational management of their practice area which includes such technologies as SharePoint, Teams, Microsoft365, Linux and AI balancing innovation and new technology with day-to-day management, delivery, including projects and initiatives, with necessary processes alongside fostering a positive and collaborative team environment.
A developing focus in this team will be data engineering as this becomes more crucial to the university.
Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
Lead enterprise systems design, deployment and management
Manage development, configuration, and integration practices
Ensure security, including identity and access is required and delivered
Ensure service availability and manage improvements
Enable improved user experiences through effective sourcing, implementation, and automation
Provide expert advice and direction
Drive business change through financial, technical, and strategic alignment
Influence attitudes, decisions and actions
Foster team performance and engagement
Collaborate to meet strategies, plans and targets
Ko koe tēnei | Who You Are
Tertiary qualification in IT or business management, or equivalent experience
Extensive experience in IT, specifically in enterprise systems such as Linux and Microsoft365 and preferably in AI whether early adopter or technology-leader
Minimum of 7 years’ experience in an IT or IT-related leadership role
Proven ability to manage transformation projects and vendor relationships
Demonstrated comfort with ambiguity and uncertainty and, crucially, challenging change
Knowledge of strategic technologies, preferably in educational or government contexts

Many of the IT Services teams and business stakeholders are based on our Palmerston North campus, which is the preferred location for this role. Consideration may be given for the right candidate to be based at our Wellington Campus, however regular travel (minimum of 1 day per week) to Palmerston North will be required.
This is a full time (37.5hrs) role and appointment will be commensurate of skills and experience within the $130 - $170K range.
