Te wero – The Challenge

In this role you will undertake policy tasks that may be stand -alone or part of a larger or more intricate policy issue, strategy or project. You may also have a background in bylaw development and an understanding of legislation that impacts the local government policy environment.

I ā koe - About You

We are looking for that special someone who has a strong policy background, who will support the development and delivery of high profile, innovative, evidence-based policy projects. You must be a strategic thinker with strong analytical and research skills.

The experience you have gained in your career will highlight your exceptional verbal and written communication skills. This will enable you to navigate the political landscape applying your excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills.

You will also need to have the following:

  • An understanding of New Zealand's political, economic, cultural and social structures
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex issues clearly, accurately and concisely
  • An understanding of the principles of Treaty of Waitangi, and their implications for the work of policy development is essential.

Policy Advisor Planning & Policy Group The salary for this position is Grade 17 within Council's salary structure ($89,758 - $105,598) dependent on qualifications and experience, plus Kiwi Saver.
