Role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
We are looking for an experienced support worker to join our 24/7 crisis respite facility. Our facility offers short-term support to guests referred by specialist mental health services or their GP.

We accommodate up to five guests at a time who are experiencing mental health distress, making it challenging for them to stay in their home environment. In this role, you will assist guests in developing strategies to improve and manage their well-being. Your duties will include offering a listening ear, maintaining the home environment, hosting, liaising with clinical teams, and supporting guests with their medication.

This is a permanent, part-time role working Sunday to Tuesday 0700-1530 in Christchurch.

About You | Mōu
You are the kind of person who can quickly establish relationships. Caring and empathy come naturally to you, and you believe in a person-centered approach and the positive benefits of a recovery-focused method. While experience in mental health is preferred, you will also have:

  • A New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) Level 4 or a recognised equivalent. Applicants without this requirement will not be considered.
  • Experience working in busy health setting and supporting people with mental health needs
  • You must hold a current full NZ drivers licence
  • Hold a current comprehensive first aid certificate covering units 6400, 6401 and 6402 or be willing to obtain one within 3 months of employment
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • You’ll enjoy being part of the team and be excellent in building relationships
  • You’ll be flexible and have positive approach when dealing with challenging behaviours
