The Platforms Domain is super focused on enabling our customers through building platform products which are easy to use, resilient, operationally excellent, secure, and fit for purpose. We adopt modern Infrastructure as Code practices and embrace automation and orchestration approaches to our infrastructure which spans both on-prem and cloud.

The Containers Platform tīma build, run and manage the bank’s Kubernetes platforms which are one of the major architectural and strategic platforms on cloud and on premise, the tīma currently manage clusters across Amazon’s Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Azure’s Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and on premise on OpenShift 4 (OCP4).

The platforms enable the bank to concentrate workloads and operate at scale with ease. These are managed platforms which take away infrastructure management complexities from the teams who build the bank’s applications, allowing them to focus on delivering excellent customer experiences. Along with the platforms the tīma also provides the Enterprise Container Registry for teams to store their container images in. The tīma is focused on creating and managing solutions which enable our internal customers to accelerate development and deployment of applications by enabling self-service and removing unnecessary blockers from teams.

What are the day-to-day tasks the person will complete?

Across the clusters the tīma manage internet ingress connectivity clusters, PCI DSS compliant clusters and clusters which host important customer facing applications vital to the bank. These clusters are expected to keep expanding as domains and teams requirements change and evolve.

A big focus is on efficiencies and cost savings across the whole of Containers and working with our customers to bring the benefits to life.

Working with our internal engineers in supporting them with the future path and at the same time, ensuring we are there to help support them on incidents and problems.

What is the tīma culture and environment like?

This is truly a tīma that has proven that autonomy and collaboration mahi. This tīma is spread across Auckland and Wellington. You will be part of a supportive tīma to help you along the way.

What is the most exciting thing about this opportunity?
