He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Auckland Council is pleased to have an opportunity to welcome a new director to the Watercare Services Limited Board in 2025.

Your leadership and guidance will help us continue to deliver high quality water services for Auckland. At the same time, you will support the transition of Watercare within a new financial and regulatory frameworks to ensure the sustainable delivery of infrastructure to enable Auckland’s water services.

Your leadership will support the organisation to build and maintain strong relationships with relevant iwi and ensure that Watercare has regard for tikanga Māori. You will also have experience delivering large-scale civil works and infrastructure programmes, along with utility operations.

You will act with personal integrity and moral leadership with wise and thorough decision-making. Board members are accountable and responsive to the direction set by Auckland Council for the benefit of Aucklanders. Directors are expected to act with a public service ethos, have a commitment to collaborate across the council group, to demonstrate financial accountability and drive a focus on value for money.

On behalf of the Auckland Council shareholder, you will place Watercare’s customers at the forefront of your decision making, support taking into account their needs for a cost-effective, affordable experience with minimised disruption to their everyday life and business.

He kōrero mōu: About you
You will need to have proven and extensive experience as a leader of large-scale, complex organisations.

We are looking for people with deep experience in the following areas:
• knowledge of te ao Māori and in particular, knowledge of tikanga Māori to provide the board with knowledge suitable to ensure that Watercare has regard for protocols and maintains strong relationships with iwi
• experience delivering large scale civil works and infrastructure programmes
• experience of utility operations
