Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Compliance Risk for IBB, you will be responsible for the identification, management and monitoring of Compliance risk within Institutional & Business Banking (IBB). You will help to maintain IBB’s compliance with risk management frameworks and strategies including the day-to-day requirements set by Westpac New Zealand Limited’s (WNZL).

You will actively be a champion for risk and encourage a move towards a proactive risk culture. The role will require you to contribute to the design, implementation and on-going improvement and monitoring of risk related policies and procedures across the Division. Specifically covering the design and operating effectiveness of Compliance related controls, assisting with business process improvements, Quality Assurance oversight, and providing quality risk and compliance advice, training and guidance.

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. law, commerce) desired, but not essential if knowledge is proven (experienced hires)
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory guidelines e.g. AML/CFT Act 2009, FMCA, FSLAA, CCCFA and Privacy Act
  • Demonstrable commercial acumen and risk awareness
  • A great attitude combined with desire to exceed expectations
  • A questioning and continuous improvement mindset
  • Work experience of 5+ years within the financial services area, with a substantial portion of that experience in risk and compliance
  • Ability to act independently and proactively within agreed framework, strong work ethic
  • Good knowledge of risk frameworks, systems and banking lending practices.
  • Competent in analysing data and interpreting results and trends to provide business insight
