To ensure adherence to the Council's regulations regarding land drainage, wastewater management, and trade waste disposal within the district, it is essential to:

• Understand the Bylaws: Familiarise yourself with the specific requirements and guidelines outlined in the Council's Land Drainage, Wastewater, and Trade Waste Bylaws. These documents provide detailed information on acceptable practices and prohibited activities.
• Regular Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of your property and facilities to ensure that all drainage systems, wastewater treatment processes, and trade waste disposal methods comply with the bylaws. This includes checking for any blockages, leaks, or other issues that could lead to non-compliance.
• Proper Waste Disposal: Implement proper waste disposal methods for both domestic and trade waste. Ensure that all waste is treated and disposed of in accordance with the Council's guidelines to prevent contamination and environmental harm.
• Maintenance and Upgrades: Regularly maintain and, if necessary, upgrade your drainage and wastewater systems to meet current standards. This may involve repairing or replacing outdated infrastructure to ensure efficient and compliant operation.
• Training and Awareness: Educate employees, tenants, or residents about the importance of compliance with these bylaws. Provide training on proper waste disposal practices and the maintenance of drainage systems to prevent violations.
• Reporting and Documentation: Keep detailed records of inspections, maintenance activities, and any incidents of non-compliance. Report any significant issues to the Council promptly and take corrective actions as required.
• Seek Professional Advice: If you are unsure about any aspect of the bylaws or how to comply with them, seek advice from professionals such as environmental consultants or legal experts who specialise in local regulations.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Experience: Over 5 years as a registered plumber or drain layer, or equivalent experience with New Zealand engineering standards, design, and building codes.
• Communication: Excellent oral and written skills, committed to outstanding customer service.
• Collaboration: Ability to work proactively with diverse stakeholders, including the public and internal staff.
• Problem-Solving: Clear communication skills to simplify complex issues.
• Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects within set timeframes.
