The role is central to delivering NZ Herald’s industry-leading social media offering and giving voice to our branded accounts on major social networks. We’re looking for someone who will continue to grow NZ Herald’s impressive audience size and engagement through social channel content and platform strategies that reach new audiences and grow loyal brand fans.
You’ll be deeply involved in the launch of Herald Now – our new video offering.
This role has two direct reports.
HOW YOU'LL DO IT:
You’ll need both creativity and balance to identify stories of interest for our audience
You’ll be working closely as a digital expert with reporters and editors across our Central Auckland newsroom, and around the country.
Fluency in identifying upcoming social trends and platforms will be required
Sound judgement in sorting between emerging best practice and a passing fad
Work quickly, accurately and efficiently, managing time and prioritising to meet all deadlines.
You’ll manage our social pages, including moderating comments and making editorial decisions.
ABOUT YOU:
You’ll likely have a journalism qualification and/or newsroom experience, committed to delivering authentic and interesting journalism for our audiences.
Experience in a social media role and experience in Photoshop and video-editing software would be beneficial.
The right candidate will find and create content that resonates locally and nationally thanks to great contact building and a great nose for news.
A positive attitude and strong communication skills are essential.
