Job Description

Downer Facilities Engineering prides themselves as being the leading provider of design, build, maintain and operate services for critical infrastructure focused on the Data Centre and Telecommunications sector.
We are looking for a Data Centre Engineer Operator who can take ownership of daily operations for building systems and engineering services within the Data Centre Infrastructure (DCI). Some of the responsibilities include but not limited to;
- Work closely with clients to understand and meet their engineering service requirements.
- Build and maintain proactive relationships with clients and occupiers to exceed service expectations.
- Manage engineering operations and oversee service personnel and subcontractors for efficient service delivery.
- Ensure uninterrupted power supply and engineering services for 24/7 operations.
- Investigate incidents and develop Technical Failure Reports to enhance service reliability.
- Supervise maintenance tasks by contractors to ensure compliance with performance standards and statutory requirements.
- Oversee building operations, ensuring effective use of Critical Systems Monitoring Systems (CSMS).
- Maintain and generate operational documentation, including maintenance manuals and procedures.
- Participate in training programs for operators to improve skills and service delivery.
- Ensure adherence to all health, safety, and risk management policies relevant to the engineering services portfolio.
Due to the nature of the work, this position requires shift work, providing 24/7 coverage, including number of night shifts per month.
Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills
- Possess a current Electrical Practising Licence and a full New Zealand driver’s license.
- Experience with HVAC systems and a working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities.
- Natural problem solver with strong time management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and strong interpersonal skills, along with proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
