About us

The Parks Operations team provide a critical customer facing support service, ensuring the city's residents and visitors enjoy a well-managed and maintained environment. The Sportsfields team is working together to achieve high quality playing surfaces, providing healthy and positive experiences for our community.



About the role

The Head Greenkeeper role manages the maintenance and preparation of turf management practices at the Berhampore Golf Course, to a high standard. This position has full responsibility for staff and volunteers when required. This is a fixed term role ending 22nd of August 2025.



What you will bring to the role

Strong demonstrable knowledge of and experience in:

  • Managing and maintaining and golf courses to a high standard
  • Planning and supervising turf maintenance programmes and projects
  • Project management
  • A high level of competence with modern greenkeeping equipment
  • Staff supervision
  • Contractor management
  • Training and assessing for NZ Qualifications
  • Computer and Microsoft Office experience


You will also need to have a Level 4 National Certificate in Turf Management (or equivalent industry experience), a Grow Safe Certificate and a NZ Drivers Licence.

There is a requirement to be physically fit for this role and applicants must be prepared to undergo pre-employment health, fitness, and drug screening and will as a Ministry of Justice check.
