Kia ora. We’re Foodies. You know New World, PAK’nSAVE, Gilmours and Four Square right? That’s us!
With 300+ stores and over 24,000 Foodies across Te Ika-a-Maui, our North Island Co-op has the privilege of helping New Zealanders get more out of life. Locally owned, we reflect the communities we serve, and we celebrate our people - our taonga, every day for being uniquely them.

Our Commercial Operations team offer our Co-op a pick n mix of solutions across commercial finance, store ownership, funding, financial planning & management, data analysis & reporting, accounting & transactional services including payroll, AR & AP & master data solutions.

Te Tūranga – About the role
Our Group Finance team is our centre of excellence for all accounting, financial reporting, tax, fixed assets, and financial due diligence for Foodstuffs North Island (FSNI) Ltd and related entities.

This role is a 12 month fixed term opportunity to cover an internal secondment within the Group Finance team. The primary focus of the role is to assist with the successful implementation of Phase 2 of our rewards project and the ongoing accounting of our newly incorporated Rewards entity.

As one of our Senior Financial Accountants, you’ll be a key member of the group working collaboratively and across team to achieve results.

Reporting into the Group Accounting Manager, your core responsibilities will be the financial accounting and reporting of the wider FSNI Group, which includes Trusts wholly owned Subsidiaries, Associates and National Joint Ventures including but not limited to:

· Profit & loss and balance sheet management and reconciliations, analysis and insights
· Working collaboratively across Commercial Operations to ensure our monthly and statutory reporting is correct
· Liaising with external auditors
· Preparation of annual statutory accounts
· Preparation of income tax returns

You will ensure business initiatives are effectively translated into sustainable financial processes, rigorous controls and reconciliations are in place, monitor general ledger and work closely with finance business partners to highlight and assist in resolving process issues.

Ngā painga - What we offer
We’re committed to providing awesome experiences for our people, including offering a range of benefits
· Free carparking - we’ve got over 1,000 carparks including 36 free EV plugs
· Onsite café with subsidised meals, mini mart, 5% discount at our retail stores
· Flexible working options including a day off on your birthday
· Inhouse learning and development programmes and courses, flu vaccinations, and social network groups (we call them Tribes).

He kōrero mōu - About you
You will be a Chartered Accountant, have solid experience to offer and be systems savvy (SAP would be super cool but not essential), with strong problem-solving abilities and an inquisitive mind!

We are looking for someone who is curious and leaves no stone unturned but is also confident to challenge the status quo and suggests improvement initiatives and encourages thinking differently.

It goes without saying you will be methodical, organised, comfortable working and analysing independently, but most importantly you will appreciate strategic imperatives while operating effectively at an operational level, taking ownership and responsibility for action.

Experience awesome. Achieve awesome. Be awesomely you.
