Our Fin-Tech clientis seeking a Principal Engineer to join their team in Wellington on a 6 month contract which is highly likely to extend. In this role, you will be instrumental in leading the team, and you will be working closely with People Leaders and overseeing other developer's code.
What you'll do:
As a Principal Engineer, your role will be multifaceted. You will conduct detailed analyses of project and software requirements, develop software designs, coding and testing protocols according to specific work packages and project needs. You will originate, use and promote the creation and maintenance of company coding and design standards.
Your technical expertise will be utilised in performing various tasks including unit test functions to support internal quality control arrangements.
You will undertake assigned integration planning and software building definition tasks while providing guidance to lower-level Software Engineers. Your insights will be valuable in short- or long-term planning as you act as a technology authority making recommendations on technical policies. Furthermore, you will assist in preparing project proposals while identifying areas of design that have potential to be patented.
Java and Springboot experience is required.
Key Tasks:
Conducting analysis of project and software requirements as part of specific assigned work packages.
Developing software designs coding and testing according to specific work packages and project needs.
Originating, using and promoting the creation and maintenance of company coding and design standards.
Performing technical tasks, including unit test functions, to support the internal quality and control arrangements.

Providing first hand supervision and guidance to designated lower-level Software Engineers on assigned activities.
