Product Manager – Technology Services

Technology Services at Auckland Council Group is seeking experienced Product Managers to join our team and help craft and communicate a compelling customer experience vision. In this pivotal role, you will play a key part in creating products and services that genuinely meet customer expectations while driving organisational success. You are a practitioner with strong skills in co-design, collaboration, and building capability, underpinned by a deeply customer-centric mindset. Driven by a need to deeply understand the customer, you are committed to putting these needs at the heart of decision-making. 

You will develop and execute strategic product initiatives that align with Auckland Council Group objectives, conduct in-depth market analysis to inform both overall product strategy and the finer details of product design, and collaborate across teams to build detailed product roadmaps that ensure features and functionalities deliver the greatest value to customers. Continuously monitoring and analysing product performance, you will identify opportunities to improve and enhance the customer experience. 

 As a passionate advocate for the voice of the customer, you will ensure solutions add real value and meet the needs of Aucklanders. This is your opportunity to champion customer-centricity, working across diverse teams to deliver innovative and impactful products. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Product Strategy: Evolve and execute product strategies that align with the organisation goals and objectives while keeping customer needs front and centre. 
  • Product Discovery: Lead the establishment, execution, and embedding of product discovery processes to understand customer challenges and identify opportunities. 
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research to inform overall product and service strategy and specific elements of product design ensuring relevance and impact for customers. 
  • Product Roadmap: Create and manage product roadmaps, prioritising customer-driven features and functionalities. 
  • Product Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful product development and continuous improvement and that meets customer needs. 
  • Product Performance: Monitor and analyse product performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and drive customer satisfaction. 


Qualifications and experience 

  • Relevant tertiary level qualification, or extensive relevant business experience. 
  • Proven experience (10+ years) as a Product Manager in an enterprise level organisation. 
  • Demonstratable experience in human centred design and design thinking techniques. 
  • Demonstratable experience in agile value, principles, and practices.
  • Deep experience communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • High level understanding of a wide range of technology and architectural patterns.
