Job Description
Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity

Downer holds a long term Asset Management and Facilities Management contract with the Department of Corrections (DoC) and the Ministry of Justice (MoJ). This Contract involves the proactive management and delivery of facilities services to a national portfolio including 100 courts and 157 community correctional sites.

The Property Manager (Wellington Based) will be responsible for service delivery in the Lower North Region to Ministry of Justice(MoJ) and Corrections Community Sites (CCS).

The Property Manager role focuses on the management of jobs at MoJ/CCS sites, with the support of service delivery co-ordinators, but holding ultimate responsibility for the area’s performance. Ensuring job flow from end to end to free up time to undertake site inspections. There is travel involved in this role to complete site inspections of the portfolio you cover.

In addition, the Property Manager will:

  • Demonstrate a lived experience (active engagement) of Zero Harm.
  • Develop strong, collaborative Customer relationships and ensure Customer interactions are positive and constructive.
  • Ensure jobs at each site are delivered safely, cost effectively, with quality and within KPI.
  • Engage subcontractors & manage relationships to obtain performance and value (managing job costs within budget).
  • Ensure the timely management of site compliance, including BWOF and HSNO requirements.
  • Deliver all services in accordance with our Downer Values.


Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills

  • Minimum 5 years’ management level experience within the facilities industry.
  • Well-developed analytical and numeric skills.
  • An ability to interpret data and make decisions based on evidence.
  • Experience in driving operational activities to ensure quality is achieved, work is completed to schedule and rework is minimised.
  • Experienced at effective resource planning and scheduling.
  • Proven time management and organisational skills.
  • Current working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.
  • Ownership, commitment and an ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Strong communicator who is able to work and achieve autonomously and also as part of a team.
  • Intermediate level of computer literacy including MS Outlook, Word and Excel.
